# ANOINTING, 5th -May – 2023 (Miracle Overnight)
It requires the anointing, the move of God and His presence to break through the areas the church has never broken into. The scripture says, For many are called, but few are chosen [Matthew 22:14]. The chosen are the people who are anointed. Remember, Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you” [John 15:16]. Bearing fruit is upon the CHOSEN and not upon the called. APPOINTED means to be ANOINTED, hence the anointing is for those who are appointed. It’s the appointed who are going to ask the Father anything, and He will give it to them.
How do you determine the number of the chosen? How do you disqualify me when I am already called? The qualifier or the disqualifier is the chosen one. The chosen are the anointed. As if it is not enough, God calls everyone to come to Him and He promises to give them rest [Matthew 11:28]. He calls you first, then He gives you rest. How does He give you rest? By anointing you.
“God gives you rest by anointing you!”
So, what is rest? It is to put to stop whatsoever has been going on. When someone rests, or when you rest a case or an issue, it means that the labor ceases and the struggle is over. How does God do that? When Jesus was anointed, this is what the scripture says in Acts 10:38, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost not with oil, and with power… Jesus was anointed with the manufacturer of the anointing [the Holy Ghost]. In other words, Jesus received the ONE who has the anointing oil.
Power does two things: it makes you to become a WITNESS [Acts 1:8], and then to create wealth [Deut 8:18]. How do you become a witness? When Jesus called the disciples, He wanted them to be there, experience it and to also have witnesses that this is real. Witnesses are those who have seen it and have experienced it. You can never be a witness if you have never been there, or basing on rumors that so and so told me. In law, you will be cast away. If you saw and experienced it, then you are an eyewitness.
“When we tell the world that Jesus saves and heals, and we have not experienced it, our witness is in doubt.”
King David said, Lord those who say, where is my God shame them [Psalms 35:19-28]. From today, there’s no one that will ever ask you such a question that where is your God? Those who refuse to believe you God is because they don’t see God in you.
So, anointing means to smear on. In other words, people can see you at a distance when you are anointed. The anointing is visible, tangible, and its very important for us to receive the anointing.
How do you get the anointing? The bible talks about these three unique young men who went behind the enemy lines to get water, because water is a type of a Spirit. Water is a type of anointing. Jesus washed his disciples’ feet with water [John 13:1-5]. He also said to Nicodemus, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God [John 3:5]. So, water does what the oil does, but it keeps it in its form. Oil on the other hand furies a sweet potato and changes the colour and gives it a taste and a smell. When the same potato is put in water, it will boil but remain with the same colour.
“You’re about to look like the anointing upon your life.”
The anointing attracts, and Jesus reveals to us that for you to get this anointing, you must be called. God has called each one of us today so that He may anoint us.
Say like you mean it: “I am going to be anointed tonight.”
You get the anointing:
- By presenting Body. Your body is precious, and it’s a living temple [1 Corinthians 6:19]. You are a royal priesthood [1 Peter 2:9]. You present your body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service [Romans 12:1]. God doesn’t anoint the dead. He tells us to pray for the sick, because the sick are not yet dead [Mark 16:18]. Dead bodies don’t respond. In fact, they used spices on dead bodies. Declare: I am alive.
- By presenting the Precious: 2 Samuel 23:16, And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord.
Do you know the significance of Bethlehem? It is where the Messiah was to be born. It means house of bread. So, the devil wanted that place (Bethlehem) to be occupied permanently. Remember, God had given a prophecy that out of Bethlehem Ephratah, there will rise a king, the Messiah, and the devil heard it. Micah 5:2, But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. This was Jesus they were talking about that He was going to rise from Bethlehem…
Between Malachi and Matthew, there is a difference of 400 years when God wasn’t talking. Heaven was quiet likewise the earth, and God was planning how to bring His Son on earth and He was supposed to be born in Bethlehem. Mary and Joseph lived in Nazareth but when they were about to give birth to Jesus in Nazareth where nothing good comes out, then Caesar Augustus made a decree that everyone should return to their hometown for the prophecy to be fulfilled [Luke 2:1-11].
“God used a political leader to fulfil prophecy.”
Prophecy was given, “Bethlehem Ephratah, out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” God allowed an engagement to happen between Mary and a man who was from Bethlehem because a decree was coming in one year and a half to move Joseph back where he had run away from.
“Prophecy is about to hit you such that you collude with the power of God.”
The bible says, Joseph was of the house and lineage of David. When the Holy Spirit came upon Mary, even the man who had engaged her RETURNED to the place of prophecy. The people around you are about to recover what they lost because of the ANOINTING upon your life. Each one of you here today, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you shall not carry your own idea, but it shall be God’s idea.
As I conclude this text, when these young men in 2 Samuel 23:15-16 brought the water to David, He said, I wish I could drink the water, but it was a test of presenting the precious. David grew up on this water from Bethlehem, hence you couldn’t fake him by running on a nearby wall. When they brought him the water, he said, “I can’t drink this water…it is for the LORD.”
